Ballooning over the Serengeti Plains was an exquisite experience from start to finish. The huge silk balloons were unpacked on the field before dawn and we launched as the sun was beginning to rise over the Mara. Early morning winds were very light as we floated over the plains above the migrating herds.
After an hour or so, we descended to land by gently crashing the basket backwards onto the grassland, then rapidly venting the hot air so we didn't move. Once we all climbed out, we were treated to a full breakfast with champagne served to us by the crew that had been following our path in jeeps on the ground.
