North side of front ditch (February 2024)

North side of front ditch (February 2024)

The lower twenty feet of the ditch is very difficult to cut with the lawnmower or string trimmer because the sides are so steep. After consultation with a native nursery in Charlottesville who specializes in creating habitat corridors, we decided to make our our "ditchscape".
We cut and trimmed the grass as low as possible and dug out some of the larger weeds. Broom sedge was planted on the lawn side and plans were made to install more natives in Spring.
