Backyard - Southwest fence line.

Backyard - Southwest fence line.

This shaded part of the garden was thick with invasive Liriope, Vinca, day lilies, and some English Ivy. Invasive Japanese Euonymus shrubs had grown into the chainlink fence under the Privets, so it took meticulous work to cut them out and dig out the stumps.
We trimmed up the Privets to get more light to the ground while still shading the native Rhododendrons, and then planted a native Hazelnuts, and Grey Dogwoods to eventually create a new privacy screen.
A large, non-native Burford Holly was replaced by native Rhododendrons and the NC native Oakleaf Hydrangea.
