In July 2017, Marty and I took a cruise to the central Caribbean to celebrate our 40th Anniversary.
We only had one day to explore San Juan so we booked a walking tour of the Old City. Because our guide, Ada Patterne, was a retired schoolteacher who had lived and worked her entire life in San Juan we enjoyed an exceptional insight into this part of the city. The tour was scheduled for three hours but we had a small group that included several other teachers besides Marty and me. Ada graciously offered to extend our walk for another hour to include interesting places not on her usual itinerary.
